Another fantastic, over-the-top attempt to convey the level of lunacy in this film.
I dig this. Deeply. I love the simplicity of it, but at the same time, it short sells the
film and gives you the sense that it's purely balls-out action. When things do go off
in the movie, they DETONATE...but this poster would feel like false advertising.
There are moments of great calm and stillness in 'Smokin' Aces' and this image,
while visually compelling and certainly catchy as hell, just doesn't cover enough
ground dramatically. So here's another sample, tossed on the trash heap, for you
collectors of the creatively forsaken.

The poster is one of the sickest things I have ever seen, I almost nut when I saw it. The posts keep getting sicker as the days progress.

Just reading your blog everyday makes me want to watch this movie even more. You write with this simple passion for the work that it is refreshing. Sometimes you see directors and stars go over the top and use big WORDS and the famous phrase "You have never seen anything like this before." Bull!!!

You on the other hand want to have fun with us ... the viewer.. Thanx

Joe, you still answering questions over at CHUD? I hadn't seen anything over there in quite some time.

Two questions. First, are you shooting both films in Los Angeles? Second, with White Jazz are you going to keep the look of the film consistent with the cinematography in L.A. Confidential? Is it going to be grittier?

Sorry for the questions but I am dying to know more about anything White Jazz related. Other than that, keep up the great blog and please post more of Jaime's stills, they are quite fantastic.

Joe, you are a fucking genius. As you mentioned above the poster most certainly shows the films idea of hard core, all out action, and does in such a simplistic poster, I wonder who thinks up the ideas of these posters. Simply brilliant.
Narc was amazing by the way. Im hoping for a special edition for it. And already I cant wait to see Smokin' Aces. Seeing it the morning it comes out. Whether or not I have school:-D

Poster looks awesome, movie looks even better. I just found out Mr. Carnahan's from my hometown, Fairfield, so that's pretty awesome. We got like a plaque of him in our community college. And I'm not sure Ryan Renyonlds is going to be too happy about his listing on the poster. lol
