CLINT MANSELL'S SCORE 06/03/2007 at 05:15 PM

Guys:

Just so you're aware, for all the incessant bitching I've been hearing about
why the 'Smokin' soundtrack didn't include all of Clint's score, the folks at
Lakeshore have decided to release a separate album containing JUST THAT.

This is from an e-mail Clint sent me this weekend:

'....I've worked the entire score into a 55 minute symphony. Its broken
down into 8 movements so each theme gets to play out in full. Estrago's
music comes across great--an entire suite for Buddy, the FBI and the
explosive shoot-out stuff...I'm very happy.....'

There you have it kids. All you Clint Mansell fans should be mid-backflip about
now.

Awesome, definitely plan on picking that up. Mansell's score at the very end was stuck in my head for a while after I saw Smokin' in theaters.

Your niece is splendid and I am happy she is better now. The photo is wonderful.
But I'd like to know what are you thinking about Romanian cinema, if you ever saw something. i am really curious.

Joe,

Why isn't Mansell a bigger name? The work in Aces and his score for The Fountain were truly amazing. He takes chances and they constantly work. And he puts Danny "I know one suite and utilize it in every score I do" Elfman to shame.

I find it hard to believe that while I was in high school I was listening to him front PWEI and here he is now, composing great scores for films I love.

Congrats on the release Clint!

Kevin

ps Joe, were you a fan of PWEI?

There was a score?

Just kidding.

I'm a bigger movie soundtrack/score CD collector, so I'll more than likely pick this up.

Awesome! I have always enjoyed the work of Mansell he really stepped it up with The Fountain adding a beautiful and haunting score to an already great film. Thx for the update Mr. Carnahan....

Awesome! The character-themed soundtrack track was super cool with the two Mansell tracks, but it's about time his ENTIRE score was released!

I happen to love my movie soundtracks, so I guess I'd be one of the folks who does the "incessant bitching," about why a so-caled soundtrack doesn't contain the full complete score used in the movie.

But come on Joe. If you buy a DVD of a movie you saw in the theaters and you get it home only to find it has two-thirds of the content you thought you were paying for, you'd be a little p*ssed too, wouldn't you?

The full and conplete soundtrack, the same way DVD's are copies of the full and complete movie. Is that reall too much to ask?
