PREQUEL CONTEST 06/07/2007 at 10:20 AM

Guys:

I'm going to go out on a limb and say we're doing this. We'll open it
up to you guys like we did the poster contest. I'll figure out what kind
of swag we can give away. Also, if we can do an artwork thing again,
maybe I can convince Universal to allow it to be included into the DVD.
Who knows.

If we don't find one we really like, then we'll wind up naming it ourselves
but I have full and complete faith in the fans of this site.

Just wrote the liner notes for Clint's score yesterday so I'm assuming it's
going to be released in the next month. Fingers crossed, it'll be available
on I-Tunes earlier than its scheduled street date.

Can you spill who the film is going to focus on, Joe?

Quip from my Martin Henderson Group About the Issue:
Universal has asked "Smokin'Aces" Director Joe Carnahan to do a prequal
to the film. This is because the rental numbers are high for the film,
and they want to make a #2 film while the vibe is hot!!! See new news
doc in "files section" dated today: 5/31/07 - for more information on
this. Will post more as news is made available everyone! REGARDS, and
have a GREAT day. kf (hope this comes trues -- is GREAT, fun
en3ergetic, cool, hip, funny retro-mod vegas film - anohter one would
be a "good thing." not only that - film seems to end in middle, as if
more could happen after the ending, so let's cross our fingers
evveryone, and hope this second II is made!!! :>
Regards - Kirsten Fragodt
(My personal Feelings about your film "Smokin Aces" - BEST FILM TO COME OUT IN THE MODERN CINEMA IN AGES! HOT ONE!!!) I'm very YES on a prequel. :>

Is there a director or writer attached to the prequel yet or is that still in the works?

Can't wait to hear more.

waiting patiently for more info on the prequel

A logline would help considerably...

Joe, one suggestion for you, make some rules like only one title per post, that way your not sifting through a hundred of them on each post. But it sounds fun and i think you will get some great ideas from the regulars on this blog

Joe,

I have to agree with Bill, any chance of getting a logline? Not only something to whet our appetites but to also guide our ideas for his competition.

Thanks,
Kevin

ps Congrats on White Jazz...yet again.

How about Buckets of Blood? Ugh, even I know that one's lame.

Posted by: JeffreyWright 06/08/2007 at 04:26 PM

Joe - I have an idea for the "grand prize"... just went over to my Aunt's house today to see how she was doing and a MerryMaid lady came over to give an "estimate."

Anyway, $80 AN HOUR TO CLEAN THE HOUSE! Can you believe that SH#T!? $40 per hour, per person... $40 an hour to clean a house (small one at that!)...? Wow, what the hell kind of student loans are you paying off? I remember the response being, "thanks, we'll call you."

My Aunt will be "out of commission" for about 6 months, so I say the grand prize is MerryMaid service for 6 months! ahah - Had to try!

Sorry, that was a bit selfish, so here are a few other "outrageous" suggestions for the grand prize that could apply to others, beyond the requisite crappy $10 gift card to Starbucks (and I don't drink coffee!):

A. a bit part in the "prequel" - ahah, I know, but can you blame me for trying?

B. tickets to the premiere of White Jazz (is there any type of premiere for straight-to-DVD?)

C. Free Carnahan film DVDs for life! ahah, but that really would be sweet!

D. (and most likely) A free copy of the prequel DVD and some extra goodies for added spice! I'm not big on signatures, but some people may even enjoy an autographed copy.

My $.02, as usual.

Have a good one! Can't beat this California sun!

Good Evening JC,

I wanted to report some good news from P-ville, I have received an e-mail from an anonymous internet friend from Sierra Leone who has a business deal I cannot refuse. At stake is the unclaimed bank account of a prosperous diamond miner who recently met his demise smuggling “dirty” diamonds where the sun doesn’t shine. The prospect of netting a hundred million (Leones) for a mere ten grand (USD) finder fee seems to be a no brainer. My first donation from my new financial windfall will be to the “Save Paris, take a limousine foundation”. Hope you and the Nigerian Assassins are doing as well as I am.

Take Care,
DanV

P.S. JW, are you sure you didn’t call the topless maid service and not Merry Maides? Forty per hour? I’ll forward you my Sierra Leone contact.
