Kids:

Flying back to D.C. today to work with my punk kid brother on the
WHITE JAZZ script. Really just thinning and trimming. The script is
in phenomenal shape but some streamlining can only help the process.
Particularly when you're dealing with period LA...We've got to go at
everything with a scalpel.

We start prep in about one month, so the clock is going to start
ticking very soon.

Break a leg, Joe! Can't wait to start hearing about pre-production. Cloony's here in Japan promoting O13, and I can't wait to see him in period L.A. duds. Should be wicked.

D.C. in August!? You're brave! Too hot and humid for me. Also be careful that members of Congress and their staffers don't bowl you down on their way out of town.

On the upside, August was always a quiet month except for tourists, and viewing the waterside monuments at night is still a good bet.

Joe, I wish yourfan s knew more about what your project is about. I am clueless, a bummer since I enjoy your work, trying to keep up while being in the dark. I've read a lot of various things but all those have just made it so scary and confusing. Maybe it's a horror film? It feels like it, yikes.

I do not know if you can answer aspiring screenwriters back through this? You're scripts are my favorite. I've followed your career since Miami and Washington Hansen. I can say I agree with the above, what is the story on the White Jazz script? I can't get a book to save my life, even B&N are out. Is there any other news on it? Why are you going to D.C.? I met Matt and I know he's in Chi-town, great guy BTW, so is there research going on there with Congress for real or is that just some industry type jargon? I am getting the idea that it's a script that's dark, damaging and is causing a great uproar tipped toward the negative for some people? Dude, if you can post back I would appreciate it. I will keep looking for the book and finding whatever is possible, not always great when it's not straight from the source.
