Kids:

Nothing to report. Have to wait a few more days to get that official prequel
winner. Ever since the Nigerians left the day-to-day operations to work on
the prequel, we've not been in the same room more than twice, so it's hard
coordinating that seemingly small effort. Anyway, WHITE JAZZ looks ready to
officially begin shooting January 14th. Can't tell you how prepared I'm going
to be for that date. Also, it looks like KILLING PABLO is going to happen. There
are pay-or-play offers going out to three specific actors as of next week. One
of them I'm sure you can guess, the others may or may not be surprises. We'll
shoot that right after WHITE JAZZ, so I'm in a position to do my two favorite
books, back to back.

Okay. Enough. Go out and have a great weekend. Both my kids have games.
My daughter is center midfield and a gazelle on the pitch. (I swear to God that
kid is all legs) and my son has designs on an A-Rod style career in the majors,
if I can just teach the boy how to hit like him.

I must admit, as excited as I am for White Jazz (and I am very excited), I am even MORE excited for the prospects of Killing Pablo. A great book that is going to be married with a great director who (I think) is the ideal man for the project. Question Joe: do you think that the interest generated in fake stupid fantasy world (I am referring to Entourage and Medellin) help to reinvigorate the project? Or have you just continued to tenaciously pursue getting this sucker made? Just curious.

PS- Forget A-Rod, get the kid to swing the bat like Big Papi and he won't have to worry about all that fielding garbage, haha.

Also... First!

Great news about the WJ start date.

But even better news about PABLO. Are they trying to get it in the bag before the possible strikes?

Anyhoo, good weekend to everyone. Looks like it's going to be a nice one. At least where I am. :)

The whole "Medellin" situation was quite heartbreaking to see. All that work and struggle, only to get booed at Cannes.

I'm sure everyone got a good laugh though out of Piven sleeping through the movie.

They should have listened to E about Medellin....simple as that.

The difference is, Joe's Killing Pablo isn't gonna suck, this is Joe Carnhan here, people, not Billy Walsh!

So, Benicio Del Toro has to be the obviously one...or is it Javier Bardem? Either way, they'd have to pack on the pounds for the role!

Great news, Joe, Congrats.

Can't wait for the prequel title!

I was thinking that one of the three definitely has to be Ray Liotta given his and Joe's history of collaboration (okay so only two movies, but there is definitely a mutual respect)-- perhaps as one the American special forces or bureaucratic types?

Also, there MUST be a part for Nestor somewhere in Killing Pablo!!!!!! (And for Ray in White Jazz for that matter!)

...Wow, I sure am chatty today.

Congrats on the start date for "White Jazz". That is gonna be one mean mother, can't wait.

Here's to hoping Ray Liotta will be in Killing Pablo!

Awesome, can't wait to see who the other 2 actors are for KP. I heard rumblings of Bale a few months...if that's true, he's a terrific actor. Would be awesome to see you two work together.

Glad that you could squeeze both projects in before the strike.

What are your thoughts on the strike, by the way JC? For it? Against it? A bit indifferent/
