THE BIG MEET 10/31/2007 at 08:03 AM

Guys:

Meeting went as well as I expected. Spoke with this individual for
about an hour and half about all things WHITE JAZZ and he wants
to do the film. The question is when. If we go now, then I push PABLO
and I don't know that, given the current climate of competing 'Escobar'
tales, I can afford to wait.

Whatever the solution it will shake out this week and I'll either be over
in Los Feliz scouting, or getting my passport renewed to travel.

Los Feliz, eh?

Definitely could remove cars there and be left with a great non-CGI utilized location.

Excellent news, Joe.

That's grwat news, Joe, in a way or another.

Oh ... Happy Halloween (although, here in Italy, it's not really part of the culture)!!!

I'll be the one to ask but know full well I'll not get told.

Who was it you was meeting with?

Even if you drop the initials of the individual, it will help.

There’s an article in the NYT about the competing Pablo projects here if anyone is interested:

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/30/movies/30pabl.html?ref=movies

I don’t post on this blog ever but I love the view and I think your candid blogging is revolutionary.

But...

What are you doing even considering postponing KP? I read that script in ’04 back when a friend of a friend was your assistant. It’s great. Done and done. Just do the f*cker.

That’s how you went about getting Narc made, no?

You saw a Nike billboard, thought ‘that’s how I’ll approach my career’ and you did. Bravo.

But if you let “Escobar” or that pot head Oliver Stone (who I love but he’s drowning himself in kush these days so who knows what planet he’s on) beat you to the punch, you’re gonna regret it.

If the surfeit emergence of these ‘projects’ ain’t enough to convince you that WJ can wait, how about this:

You’ve got the best source material.

You’ve got the best script.

You got the best leading man (Bardem, though Bale ain’t shabby)

And along with the B bro’s...

You are the only filmmaker who can do this the way it’s gotta be done (I was convinced by that Beamer spot).

I know I’m just words on a page... but you never know who I really am.

Well I’m a chirping cricket yanking your head out of you ass for you.

So forget WJ... no one else is trying to pull that rug out from under you.

Do KP. Please. Pretty f*cking please...

Congrats! That is great news. Either film getting made and you still win. And so do we -- who look forward to your next work.

Glad it went well. Can't say I'm not conflicted...I'm dying to see both films. Hmm.

I agree with Justin. It's a tough call, even though (as you pointed out) the timing is against you for KP.

We're here, anxiously waiting.

Take care.

I keep coming back here to see news, and you keep repeating the same thing. "Should I do Pablo? I think I should. Should I? Ummmm." Boringgggggg! I'll keep checking though, hoping you'll get underway soon with something.

Dude,

I'm hoping for "Escobar" baby! Why? 'Cuz homie, you may never get a chance to do this film if it isn't now. And, buddy, that would be a crying shame. "Escobar" is to good'a script to not see the front of a 300mm lens. In this poster's humble opinion, or maybe even better, an instinct, I think "Escbar" will warrant the acceptance of a little gold statue, or at least a nod. I really want to see that happen.

"White Jazz" is a movie that can always be made, so I'm saying prays for "Pablo."

Either way, what a great situation to be in.
