PABLO... 11/03/2007 at 07:25 AM

Guys:

Might be going to Colombia as early as THIS WEEK. Major, major
casting news coming in the next two weeks (hopefully after Thanksgiving)
so it looks like this one might be ramping up faster than I thought possible.
Had a big dinner last night with all the major foreign film buyers and I think
they're all wanting to back 'KILLING PABLO' because they love the script
and the material it's based on. It doesn't hurt that KP was a massive bestseller
and everybody sees the upside to doing a film with the author of 'Black Hawk
Down' which made a couple of bucks at the box-office a few years back.

It was a great dinner and led to the obvious: It's time to hit Colombia and hit
it hard...

Updates to follow.

Yeah Baby! Good news Joe!

This is awesome! The script to the movie is brilliant. Is Javier still going to be involved?

P.S.
I just saw the trailer to Pride and Glory. It looks awesome. Have you seen a cut of it yet? When does it come out? They should release it so that it is eligible for the Oscars.

Joe, KP is cool, but WHAT ABOUT WHITE JAZZ? That is the coolest of all the Ellroy books and I have been waiting years for you to do that. Forget Clooney. JC + WJ = biggest baddest kick ass film in recent history. Pablo can wait!

Joe, I read both scripts and I have to be honest when I say that White Jazz is the stronger, IMO. I think it has a better chance of winning awards and being an unforgettable film, if you can get the right guy to play Klein. I really hope you think this through before you jump onto Pablo. I know they are both pet projects and know you'll make the right decision. Good luck, bro!

Sweet!! I'd much prefer you to do PABLO before WJ. Don't know why, I'm just ready for PABLO and can wait for JAZZ.

Take some f*ckin' Kevlar with you.

Very cool too hear! Let's cross our fingers that all goes well and nothing interferes with production starting.

I't's important for everybody to remember that "White Jazz" can still roll out anytime in the future, but "Pablo" cannot risk allowing the "poor mans' version" to be released first.

Things are looking up, I'm excited!

Good to hear it, Joe. :)... Slickflix makes a good point. With two other Pablo films in the works...the sooner the better for getting 'KP' out there. No rush though...cuz I'm sure it will still hold its' own against the other films. :)

Joe - like I said earlier - GO KILL PABLO brotha!

Nice news and just the inspiration needed.

Sh.t happens for a reason, so if you have to sit on your hands for WJ, then so be it! When the time is right it will present itself and everything will come together! I'm calling it now.

Can't wait for the updates... keep'em comin'!

Sh.t, good luck in Colombia too! When I did international recruitment we didn't even bother with that country - no one could pass a f.ckin' drug test!

Peace,

JW

Does this mean WJ has finally been put to the side? To be honest I dug that script more but KP has a ton of potential. Is Bardem definitely out if production ramps up early?

Joe, you're up awfully early this morning.
