BUENOS AIRES. THE PURSUIT OF PABLO BEGINS... 12/20/2007 at 08:14 AM

Kids:

Off to Argentina, right after the new year to interview Pablo's son and
lay the ground work for KILLING PABLO. Have loads of contacts and
folks on the ground and my feeling is we will wind up shooting a majority
of KP in and around Buenos Aires and then travel to Colombia for a few
weeks to get the crucial stuff. We've been extended every courtesy by the Colombian
government and current President Alvaro Uribe and also given guarantees as to our
safety and well being. HOWEVER, there's not a completion bond company in the
world that will touch us if we choose to shoot KILLING PABLO entirely in Colombia.
It's far too dangerous on multiple fronts, not the least of which is 'El Grande Gringo'
aka, yours truly, traipsing around like some moron, trying to do a movie about
'El Doctor' himself. I figure that's actually the perfect cover. Nobody would ever think
this ridiculous white boy would be dumb enough to pull a stunt like that, so I'm
hoping (praying) that this bit of 'camo' will suffice.

Not sure where the other, horrible Pablo project is at the moment. I know they're
getting turned down by a lot of folks...memo to aspiring screenwriters, if you want
to know how NOT to write a screenplay, pick up that piece of sh*t and use it as
reverse tutelage. It not only does a disservice to the craft of writing, it mocks one
of the greatest figures in Latin American history with a non-existent, wholly
fictionalized Butch and Sundance angle involving Pablo and his brother Roberto.
It's laughably lame.

Good luck chumps. And it doesn't matter if you get out of the gate six months earlier
than me. I will have an announcement after the new year that will absolutely break your
hearts and kill whatever middling credibility you have...and you deserve that heartbreak,
trying to push a sh*tty, insultingly bad Pablo pic into production against mine and being
nasty and conniving and devious about it.

I said in yesterday's post that 'War is War and that declaration seems obvious by now...'

I'll let that same sentiment ride here.

JC

Happy Holidays...winter solstice, Joe. :)

Sounds like it could be fun... as long as you don't get taken hostage.

Hope you've got plenty of protection, Joe!

You know what goes around always comes around. So, if doing the right thing is what one does it ALWAYS works out for the person in the end no matter what we wish or want to think, it is the only way it works in the end. Good luck.

Them be fightin' words! And, let me tell you right now, I've got Joe 10 - 1. Where's the bookie?

There is hardly anything more exhiliarating than walking around in a country (especially at night) that people tell you shouldn't be walking around in. Or, facing up a North Korean soldier, from the South side! Or, landing in the kind of sh.t you only see from a hidden-camera on Dateline.

That kind of adrenaline rush will only make this one of the most exciting experiences of all time, not to mention to a kick-as. flick!

Round up the soldiers, Joe - as they say everywhere under the f.ckin' sun - IT'S ON!

Battle,

JW

Joe, I've got to say that this sounds fucking awesome.
No middle of the road bullshit here - this is going to be such an amazing experience. I'm very jealous on this end.
But i've got to say...I just steped up and started shooting on film this year so I'm still learning about all this stuff, but if you ever need anything even the best fucking coffee boy you'v ever seen. Just tell me.
Peace
Merry Christmas

JC, dude,

so good to hear, I've been hoping "KP" would be your next film. And, brotha, it looks like it's heading that direction. I can't wait to see a movie with a reasonable budget get made with the independent flare I know you'll give it. And screw O.Stone and his lame-as production, I'm sure he'll fire off some sort of conspiracy that has nothing to do with Pablo's life. Sh*t, maybe Pablo killed JFK.

On any level, congrats on this, bro - can't wait. Stay safe and out of sight, a white boy slingin' biopics about a legend is probably branded of the plane with a big fat BULL'S EYE on his back.

Peace - Kevin

Blokey at Latinoreview gave the other Pablo script a nice review.He ended it with this comment;
"Both movies show two sides of the same coin – and in this case, both sides are shiny".

It's just crazy enough to work!!

Hope you can keep us updated while you are on this wild ride...

As a Colombian I would suggest hiring a personal bodyguard when in the coast or at least keep your contacts close. You'll be ok in Bogota. I was just there in August and it's just like Manhattan = DON'T LOOK LIKE A TOURIST. Good luck and have a shot of Aquardiente.
