PREQUEL NEWS 12/14/2007 at 07:38 AM

Kids:

Universal did a budget which came in at around 17 million for Smokin' Aces: Blowback
so they're bringing those nubbed #2's back to shiv-like sharpness and trying all over
again...since that's pretty close to the budget of the original, they need to knock it down,
just a tad.

We've already made contact with most of the actors we want to return but we've still
got a few tricks up our sleeve and some surprises. Universal is ready to greenlight
as soon as the strike is resolved and they're hoping this thing is ready to rock out
to the public in late April, early May.

The Nigerians are primed to strike.

I am so excited about this movie, I can't even stand it Joe! I absolutely love everything about Smokin' Aces and the prospect of what you could do with this prequel is mind-numbing. I wish I could be a part of it!

Cheers!

Can't wait. :)

Oy vey. With all the films I'm looking forward to on the horizon, I'm going to have to pull a Cartman and have myself frozen 'till about this time next year. At the very earliest, when "The Dark Knight" is released. No patience behind this keyboard.

Can you tell us any of the story ideas?

Joe, what kind of budget are they looking for? What do you think it should be?

Good news that it hasn't dropped off the face of the planet. Can't wait for some more!

Joe, what is going on with 'Void'? Will you ever make that? I read somewhere that that was your first script and Arriaga is making a pass at it for you to helm. Is this true? I'm very much looking forward to the prequel. There is no doubt it will do major business. Why not hedge your bet even more and make it for 10m? Turn a nice profit.

Peace

What a rollercoaster ride! Doesn't seem you know what is coming your way next with all in the projects in various stages.
But it is all good lately. Looking forward to being on the "inside" with all your candid updates...

Joe,
Great news!

BTW, check out I Am Legend in IMAX just to witness the brilliance that is the first 6 minutes of The Dark Knight. Fucking amazing. Ledger far and away exceeded my expectations.

Kevin

PS Smith is quite good in Legend. Too bad the film suffers from a weak third act...to say the ending is anticlimatic is being kind.

PSS And yes, I have read the novel and felt it was somewhat faithful.

Hello JC,
Hey man, can you please tell which actors would you like to bring back to the prequel???
Oh, and I just saw the I Am Legend movie, in which the Dark Knight trailer came in. Heath Ledger really surprised as the Joker, man!!! Prison Break's actor, William Fichtner, was so badass, you should really look at the first 6 minutes, and you will be surprised.
