HEATH LEDGER R.I.P. 01/23/2008 at 09:55 AM

Guys:

Words will never do in an instance like this. It's so goddamned sad. You
just wind up shaking your head wondering why the world would be robbed
of the talents and gifts that had yet to be glimpsed from this kid.

You see James Dean in 'Giant' and think, 'Wow, what would he have done, if...'

You see Heath Ledger's work and wonder the same.

Too young.

We can only celebrate what he did give us, hold that in our hearts and remind
ourselves that this life is so short sometimes.

And remember, he died doing what he loved. He was living out his dreams. Take
that example and seize every single second for something, no matter how small.

It's the only way to live.

Couldn't have said it any better.

He seemed like the type of individual that took every role like a true actor should. For all the people traipsing around this glorious world he was one of the few that actually seemed to be living. In a real sense.

All the best to the family!

Peace,

JW

Well said, Joe.

JW, couldn't agree more.

To me, Ledger was in a very small group of young people who I consider "actors" as opposed to "movie stars".

This was a guy who I seriously believe went to work because he loved what he did, wanted to learn and improve, and didn't just turn up, phone in a performance, and pick up his check at the end of the week.

Compare him to the talentless hacks who pollute 99% of the entertainment industry, who are pissing their lives away on drink and drugs - yeah I'm looking at you Britney, Lindsay and Paris. I wonder who will be best remembered in years to come.

Ledger wasn't a big star YET. But come July, his career would have rocketed with the release of The Dark Knight. His interpretation of the Joker is said to be the best to date by any actor.

JC, I love you way with words. Couldn't have said it any better myself.

I'm reminded of that line from "Heat" - "I know life is short, whatever time you get is luck."

Ledger lived the dream for a short period of time. Now, he's probably entertaining God with an Oscar-worthy performance.

Heath, you ARE the man. Amen, brother.

I hear you. Heath was a gentleman. That's how I'll remember him. I live in NY and I'm a part time actress. I saw Heath a couple of months ago. I said hello and mentioned I'm an actress too but I may quit because I'm over 40 etc. Heath said keep at it you never know when everything will happen! I thanked him profusely. But can you imagine? Not only did he inspire me but also took the time to say something! He could have just ignored me or blew me off. An incredible person.

Amen to that. Carpe everything!

Me and my sister just couldn't believe what we were seeing on the news. It just feels sad and untimely.

As Doubler already mentioned, The Dark Knight would have shot Ledger to the stratosphere!

I was shocked when I saw this news yesterday. Even after that, I couldn't help but think of him from time to time, trying to wrap my mind around the fact that he was gone. It seemed so unreal that someone with so much potential and talent -- and so young -- could just be gone. He was not only a wonderful actor; he was a shining presence that captivated us all. R.I.P. Heath, and thank you.

Best Wishes, Wendy

It's always so sad to see a life cut down so soon but he came to do what God asked him to - live life, work hard and love well. He seemed like such a nice person in additon to a great talent. He behind left a wonderful legacy for his daughter to be proud of. May he rest in peace and now bring peace to his family and friends.
