Kids:

In Antigua for my old assistant's wedding. Beautiful here. Had to pull
the Bogota post for security reasons. Got a tongue lashing after I put it
up. Now the dates have been rearranged so we're flying in real quiet like
and going about our business Blitzkrieg style.

Updates to follow.

Also, Universal is on the one-foot line for the greenlight on 'Smokin Aces: Blowback'
so hopefully we'll hear about that next week as well.

Joe,
Im excited to hear about Smokin' Aces Blowback.
Is this a bigger budget than the first? Any leads on who will star? Is the script wrote?

Another question.
I know that Richard Linklater offers an internship for directors/screenwritters. Will you ever offer anything like that someday? I guess based on a screenplay and demo they the picked person hangs out with him on set and learns first hand.
Im only asking because I'm just about done my first year of film school and Ive realized its more about politics than actual film making.

Additional Security Tips for Joe:
1.) Don’t wear your “I ♥ George Bush Sr.” t-shirt to Bogotá.
2.) Hit the tanning booth so you are not the whitest target in your platoon.
3.) If you go out clubbing don’t use the line “Say hello to my little friend”.
4.) Absolutely no local TV interviews announcing that “Jason Alexander” will be playing Pablo Escobar.
5.) If you are detained by the Policia your alias is “Justin Berfield”.
6.) Do not utter the word “NARC” under any circumstance even if the senorita es mas fuego.
7.) Take Tommy Flanagan as a side kick if Ben Bray is unavailable.
8.) Remember that you cannot out run bullets, rpgs or pipe bombs.
9.) Do not drink the water.
10.) Booze buzz = Sense of security

be safe on your scout! i am sure lots of stuff will be waiting when u return. congrats to whomever, if anyone is actually getting married!!! if that is the case? good luck, it is always needed esp in that albatross, joking! be safe, i have seen photos, it's beautiful! i am certain u are loading up on photos and plenty of video hopefully not just like pablo's childhood places, bogota is beautiful I have a friend that lives there and I have seen photos ,amazing! antigua, I have seen those and forwarded them years ago, so i know how great that is u must be in heaven, enjoy!!!

Congratulations to your old assistant, and I'm glad you are enjoying yourself. Yeah, I thought that might have been the case. One really should be a bit careful, I suppose. Sounds like everything is going well so far. Good luck!

Joe, What do you make of Columbia/Venezuela recent news? Last week a producer on a $3 million project of mine called to tell me he has financing through Columbia producers. Never mind the locations wouldn't work -- but filming in the country bat-nuts crazy (at the moment).

My hat is off to you for what you've accomplished.
