Kids:

Cali looks like it's going tits up for the Obama campaign and I'm bummed.
Clinton has been projected by ABC and CBS as the winner at this moment.

On the plus side. McCain is crushing Mr. Gutless Wonder himself, 'The Mitt'
Mitt Romney. Back to political obscurity moron. You're like Joe Biden without
any of the wit or charm. You deserve to get your ass handed to you homeboy.

No matter how this thing drops, we're looking at one of the most exciting
presidential races in a long, long time.

Very discouraged by the Clinton victory in Cali but looks like Barack's mustered up enough to put up a big, big fight. Amazing speech from him earlier.

Joe Blow,
i dont know where you got your early info, but California is a Clinton massacre. This will be the state that puts her over. Obama tried, but he will now get roasted. Shows you how much real people could give two shits about "celebrity" endorsements. Even in Hollywood's home town, where one would expect a bump. Oprah, clooney, affleck, etc. can all go to hell.
Joe you calling Clooney lately?

You know what's really retarded - people who think celebrity endorsements are going to affect politics. These are just people, ladies and gents. Maybe they can get UN support to go overseas or be "ambassadors," but politics is run by a party much higher than "celebrity." And, last I checked the UN was a fucking joke.

I want to be wrong. I want to think that Clinton and Obama aren't just there to lose to McCain, since I've been calling that from the very beginning, but the way this thing is shaping up, this is a film we've already seen. It ends with an older white man raising his right hand...

Politicize on...

I thought the phrase "tits up" meant going badly and JC's use of it fittingly accurate, but what do I know from reading the "context" of things?

Anyway, I also wonder why folks get so hung up on the "celebrity" thing. The vitriolic diatribes that are thrown at actors speaking their mind baffles me. It seems to smack a bit as sour grapes (or dare I say it) jealousy. As JW put it, they're just people...so why all the "hatin'"? If certain entities highlight their words, is that the actor's fault? I'm sure those complaining about "celebrity" activism/endorsement (whichever) had a camera shoved in their face, they'd speak their mind and give their opinion (as frequent pundits critical of said "celebrity" do on FOX do all the time).

It seems you can have an opinion in this country, as long as you don't shout it too loudly (especially if that opinion differers from those critical of it).

Actors, TV personalities, singers, news casters, media owners, plumbers, insurance salesman, lawyers, doctors, IT professionals, warehouse workers...last time I checked all have a right to, and to express, their opinion. Why does one have to check that right at the door of their job description?

I say, let the opinions flow...I shudder to think what would happen if we start to restrict certain individuals from speaking their mind based on what they do for a living. Doesn't seem, um, American?

Peace,
RTA

Oh great, another "Joe's Political Rant" posting...hey Joe, instead of your world views on how evil one party is, and how great the other is (in typical liberal fashion), try giving people an update on films and the strike. The political bullshit is old news, if I want to hear bias shit like this I will go over to CNN.com.

I totally agree with Joe, this is one of the most exciting presidential races in a long time. I'm not american but all our TV channels talk about it everyday, almost as much as during the french presidentials....

About celebrity activism or endorsement, some people are only motivated by their own interest, like in any domain, and some others really believe in what they do. I don't know for Clooney, but i.e. if you check Max Dana commitment (the first that come to my mind ;), it's real, supporting the volunteers and for years now. But in any case (out of self-interest or not) this activism usually serves the cause. So if sometimes I regret some people use a cause to serve themselves more than to serve the cause, it's only a glitch to a very useful global endorsement.

My two cents of the day ^^^

I'm not giving up hope for Obama. MSN says the dem race is still tight and we won't know for a while who the winner is.

i have no problem with celebrities speaking their minds. of course they are americans and given every right to do so. the problem is they do it with such arrogance , and have much closer proximity and affect on politicians because of that celebrity. The plumbers you mention arent getting invted to the white house. barbra streisand, tom hanks, and in this administration, bruce willis. these are the dopes with undue influence to policy and perks. and trust me if you have ever been to a hollywood political ralley, no one is shoving a mic in someones face, they are elbowing for it. and other than a select few, the vast majority are there for the glamor.
plus the clooneys and the hanks, and afflecks have no trouble working for the huge corporate conglomerates- sony, gulf western, general electric, time warner, as they cash their hefty paychecks from the subsidiary studios. they want the corporations to do spectacularly so that they are in spending moods. but then they of course attack the corporate welfare afforded these very same companies as protection of the wealthy. They despise fox news, and ruppert murdoch in general, yet it doesnt stop them for one second from working for 2oth century fox, enriching their wallets, and in the process promting the film, which is promoting the studio, which is an endorsement for the corporate entity.
You may say a job is a job, but thats bs. the hypocrisy involved in taking the green, and then criticizing the daddy is the core problem with celebrity sanctimony and whimsy. it is no different from clinton taking pharmaceutical lobbyist money, and then bashing them in a health care proposal.
it's not jealousy of fame that causes a rant, that is for you and your gossip mags rta and friends, it is the duplicitous untruth of the voice given volume due to his chin, her boobs, maybe their ,slight talent.
maybe you learned something today rta
