Guys:

This is what modern day Bogota looks like. If I had a nickel for every time a
native Colombian said to me, over the past week: 'Please don't make our country
look like some backwoods jungle with chickens running around the airport.' I
would have the money to start production on KP today. Bogota is a beautiful,
vibrant, bustling city of nearly 10 million people. It's as cosmopolitan as NYC
or Paris for that matter and it has a cultural and arts movement, the likes of
which I've never seen. I believe we could shoot this movie here without issue.
THAT'S how misunderstood this place is.

The responsibility to these people and this country, in accurately depicting this
story, is immense. I told them I was after one thing and one thing only: VERDAD.
Truth. Fact. And I told them I would rather the movie tank and be completely
authentic, than sell out to some bullsh*t Hollywood notion of this story which
is quintessentially COLOMBIAN no matter the American presence in KILLING PABLO
you must first and foremost honor the memory of the thousands of people that
died during that struggle.

I have obtained some of the most incredible interviews and spoken with some
of the most courageous people I will ever have the pleasure of meeting. I interview
former President Cesar Gaviria today and cap over a dozen interviews with key players
down here. The next stop will be Medellin.

No pressure Joe. We know you'll do it well and with respect. :)

As someone who has family in a 3rd world nation, its nice to see how you are approaching it Joe. Just cause it ain't in the so called modern world doesn't mean the people are idiots or backwoods.

Joe,
I am serious and not trying to be a buzz cramp but I know you...please DO NOT be so jacked that you become lax on security and whatnot! You are in Bogota! Yes, that is where it is their more fashionable city. They have great pride there and where there is loads more money there and consider it to be NY and with so much beauty and beach etc....they shoot soaps there and there are a strong bit of actors that work on soaps and whole whole deal. The ones I spoke to and the friend I know who was born raised and lives there now, she worked with me for awhile on a pilot as an actress. I spoke to her on the phone and she was making all the same claims and emailed photos and was also a DR. in Bogota at a time so not a dumb woman. All great and I promised to go there to dsee her like in was a vacation spot.
CUT TO REALITY! There is a big one even with her story and life. I will fill you in but it was a bit stunning to me. THEN I got into the REALITY of outside of Bogota.
THERE IS A REASON THEY WERE GOING TO BUDGET 3 MILLION DOLLARS FROM JUMP TO SHOOT IN THERE. It's not like a studio just wants to spend 3 million on crap you do not see on film or to suck and actor or actress's ego's azz. It is because there may not be an azz to suck at all AND THEN they would really care. I am throwing a joke in but no, I do not buy that execs etc. truly wouldn't care but I do care one way or another about that...I care about you thinking it all through, please. Don't get so geeked hat you think you are a native because they are accepting you in Bogota. It is different mindset than the other cities. In fact, if they are al speaking to you in English hold the friggin phone right there! My friend spoke it too and was a crapshoot which words I picked up, at times.
I can't say that I know the ratio of non-ENglish speaking people in Medellin as to the opposite but common sense tells me think about it at least.
Damn you Joe. I would have hooked you up at least with a few people I can trust there if you had not tried 2 pull s... which I plan on covering with you on your return home seeing that you get here in a non-bodybag!
I am not being a goat or a panic button pusher I am not afraid of anything but I am afraid of people behaving in ways that I KNOW WELL enough to picture a lax attitude and an irresponsible attitude towards their own safety, I suck in that deptment too.
However, like you this isn't about me so I see it clearly and it makes for a vigilant or I prefer to say more aware atitude, in case not paranoia. IT could be all wrong, exception to a rule a vacation wonderland..GO YOU AND CREW!
However, until that is your hindsight opinion of this jaunt to the place that you have been seeing for years with hungry video village eyeballs, do not DO YOU as charming and comedic as that is to be around. I would say for many we would miss your goofball azz and if your visions of storyboards let loose and swell it will leave no room for common sense or it will be an after thought and there is where you will be unsafe for more than "just you."
As a wrap up, there should not be a "just you" attitude anymore either and that is coming from the MACK MOMMY on that mentality so I know I have that issue so don't retort that's layup beneath you! I am fixing it, so until I know you are doing the same? I would have preferred to be there watching your back you ___ not wondering if you are and that picture in the suits gives me a freaky vision that you are thinking you are the ambassador and in the end, if that's where it all takes place? Maybe so or a Key to the City and you'll replace RobinHOOD BUT if you are in the hood know your surroundings.
This all I am saying, know that I have hope in the worst of the worst always but it is to early to decide that and you are in the moment not on our soil where you know you are safe.
ANYONE of you jokers that put some rude ass post critiquing this post, siting spelling errors, grammatical no no's or have nothing left but a attempt to call me names or accuse medical issues or medicine that you non M.D.'S seem to fall back on whenever you've got nothin, SAVE IT SMART GUYS...this is no joke, unfunny and if you give a sh.. about your God here on this blog you will not lighten this or demean my post.
A person who gives a crap, knows the subject and subject matter more than you guys.
I do not see Mary or Woody writing some of these mean things you all do, so then back off. I am not competing, trust me, but trying to be kind even when I am right and want to be sure he is keeping his joyous wits about him.
AND if you do not even know who Mary and The Woodman even are?
please! Then U REALLY NEED TO SHUT THE PIE HOLE and pray it is a safe a glorious return which I am certain it will be.

Good for you. Getting it right should be the most important thing -- even if that means
that it won't be what some people expect. As for the chickens, if there were any
running around at the time in question -- fine. If not, have a BBQ. That way they
won't go to waste. he-he.

Do take care, okay?

Best Wishes, Wendy

Casey Moore,
I am from the most generic place on the US map. I am glad I was born there and raised there and am still am friends with a crew since I was 9 years old, some still live there and some live everywhere else and I am the only one who lives in CA which I love! I am not in "Hollywood" like the rest of the nation sees or calls it because we are in the entertainment business. Usually we all are closer to the career title I call a "waiter " with no food involved, just waiting for someone or something to "let us" do our thing which blows but you can find a way.
POINT: before u chime in since I saw what u wrote AFTER what I did I figured I save myself the trouble and you too and clip that chance of a smack back off of what I wrote because I come from everywhere basically a mix of middle so....I am not ever saying show anyplace or anyone in a stereotypical sanitized or unsanitized version of drama for the sake of drama. Clearly, Joe at least on this is fighting for reality.
His PERSONAL reality as it pertains to taking care of himself is what I am talking about but you have no worries about him wanting to shoot reality, if he is allowed he won't do wrong by it.
If that makes no sense or is too whatever for anyone of u?Go back to class I don't care and can't fathom someone doesn't crack the code or a bit of it if not, tough luck I am NOT proofing it either I have stuff to do.

I was born in Colombia but raised here. I still have a big family in Bogota - although the country has it's share of troubles, Bogota itself is acutally one of the safest cities in South America. I was there in 2004
and again last August and felt safe even traveling with my 2 very American looking dughters. It is well patroled by lots of security starting at the airport. It is a metropolitan city that is very alive with lots of culture and an active nightlife. We appreciate that you respect and also appreciate our native culture - I have no doubt you will do justice to the beauty of the country and it's people. Everyone is very friendly, speak lot's of English and like Americans. I'm glad you are interviewing Gaviria - he happens to be a family friend.
If you get a chance - go to a place called Andres Carne de Res - it's a blast.
Good luck
